Who we are

EnergyMove (we, us or our) helps Australians understand their energy bills, compare electricity and gas plans, and receive plan recommendations. You can contact us at admin@energymove.com.au.

1. What we collect

Depending on how you use EnergyMove, we may collect:

• your name, email address and other details you provide when joining our waitlist, creating an account or contacting us;
• information about how you use our website or app, such as pages viewed, interactions, device and browser information, IP address and approximate location derived from it;
• energy and household information you enter or confirm; and
• information contained in energy bills you choose to upload.

2. Uploaded bills and energy identifiers

An uploaded bill may contain your name, service address, account and retailer details, National Metering Identifier (NMI) or Meter Installation Registration Number (MIRN), energy usage, tariffs, charges, billing periods, solar and feed-in details, concessions or rebates shown on the bill, and other bill information.

We use this information to parse the bill, ask you to confirm relevant details, compare plans, generate recommendations, troubleshoot problems and improve the service. Only upload a bill you are authorised to provide.

3. How we collect and use information

We collect information directly from you when you use the website or app, submit a form, contact us or upload a bill. We may also collect technical information automatically through logs, cookies and similar technologies.

We use information to operate and support EnergyMove, provide comparisons and recommendations, respond to enquiries, send product updates you have requested, improve performance and features, investigate errors, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.

4. Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies and similar storage may be needed for core functions such as security, form operation and remembering necessary settings. These are not used for advertising.

Optional analytics and performance technologies help us understand how the website is used and improve it. EnergyMove may enable Google Analytics on the website. When enabled, Google may receive usage, device and network information under its own privacy terms.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the website works. EnergyMove does not currently provide a separate cookie settings control on the website.

5. Forms, service providers and sharing

Our website waitlist form is processed by Formspree. We may also disclose information to service providers that help us host, operate, analyse, secure and support EnergyMove, but only where reasonably needed for those services. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect people, our rights or the service. We do not sell personal information.

6. Overseas storage or processing

Some service providers may store or process information outside Australia. The locations and protections may vary by provider. We take reasonable steps when selecting and working with service providers, but overseas recipients may be subject to different privacy laws.

7. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online service can guarantee complete security.

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including providing and improving the service, troubleshooting, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods can vary by the type of information and the systems involved.

8. Access, correction, deletion and your choices

You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, request deletion, withdraw consent, or opt out of communications where applicable. Some requests may be limited by technical or legal requirements. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. To make a request, email admin@energymove.com.au.

9. Children

EnergyMove is not intended for children under 16.

10. Privacy concerns and complaints

If you have a privacy concern or complaint, email admin@energymove.com.au with enough detail for us to investigate. We will review your concern and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as EnergyMove and our practices change. We will publish the current version and its last-updated date on this page.
